The Blaufränkischland Marathon covers 42 km, starting from the red wine town of Deutschkreutz and leading you through the wine villages of Neckenmarkt, Horitschon, Unterpetersdorf, and Girm, a district of Deutschkreutz, before returning to the start/finish area at the MS Deutschkreutz - school park. Along the way, you will be surprised by the varied landscape, which is partly flat, partly hilly, and features some challenging climbs, all offering fantastic views.
Along the marathon route, there are 13 tasting stations where you can sample excellent wines from local winemakers and enjoy regional delicacies and specialties. Sparkling water, still water, and grape juice are also provided. Most of these tasting stations are located at wineries in the respective towns, many of which impress with cozy courtyards, elegant tasting rooms, or beautiful viewing terraces. Some tasting stations are situated directly in the vineyards with wonderful panoramic views. Don’t miss the chance to take a short break and enjoy a good glass of wine!
On the longer stretches between towns, classic refreshment stations provide still water and isotonic drinks to ensure that both competitive runners and those running for fun and enjoyment get the best experience at the Blaufränkischland Marathon!
